WRITING
MEMOIRS AND FAMILY STORIES

The Chazy Public Library will host a
writing workshop focusing on writing memoir and family stories
facilitated by writer Susannah Risley. Susannah will lead a
discussion about writing memoir and give examples of vivid language
that makes experience come alive on the page. Participants will do a
hands-on exercise to elicit memories and write what they have
discovered.
The workshop is for anyone who has ever
wanted to write for their own pleasure, or to pass stories on as
family history. No experience is needed for this non-stress, fun
workshop.
Susannah Risley lives in Schenectady.
She has been teaching writing workshops in schools, community
centers, prisons, homeless shelters and libraries across NYS for
seventeen years. In 2009 she received a National Endowment for the
Arts grant to bring creativity to upstate seniors.
She has published fiction, non-fiction
and poetry.
This workshop is free and funded by
Poets & Writers, Inc.
The Readings/Workshops program of Poets
& Writers, Inc. is supported, in part, by public funds from the
New York State Council on the Arts.
