WRITING MEMOIRS AND FAMILY STORIES

Chazy Public Library

Saturday 12 October

10:00 to 12 noon

Sign-up is necessary

Call 846-7676 or email chazypl@twcny.rr.com to register

The Chazy Public Library will host a writing workshop focusing on writing memoir and family stories facilitated by writer Susannah Risley. Susannah will lead a discussion about writing memoir and give examples of vivid language that makes experience come alive on the page. Participants will do a hands-on exercise to elicit memories and write what they have discovered.

The workshop is for anyone who has ever wanted to write for their own pleasure, or to pass stories on as family history. No experience is needed for this non-stress, fun workshop.

Susannah Risley lives in Schenectady. She has been teaching writing workshops in schools, community centers, prisons, homeless shelters and libraries across NYS for seventeen years. In 2009 she received a National Endowment for the Arts grant to bring creativity to upstate seniors.

She has published fiction, non-fiction and poetry.

This workshop is free and funded by Poets & Writers, Inc.

The Readings/Workshops program of Poets & Writers, Inc. is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts.

Garden Shed floor ready to pour.

A garden shed for the library grounds is being erected in the memory of Deborah West. The concrete floor will be poured soon followed by the closing in of the framework. Jim West, Contractor, is donating his time. Donations from R.Deso Inc. and Chazy Hardware, as well as the West gift, makes it possible to have the building ready for storing our equipment this fall.
The Building will have windows, doors, and siding added nest year paid for by further fund-raising.
